SQL Server DBA
• You will be working with a small team: 1 other DBA, and a variety of technical team members (systems- and developer- groups)
• We are collaborative workers, and use Kanban for task management, and daily Stand Up meetings for coordination
Technical Environment
• We are heavily invested in Microsoft technology with Windows Server, .NET, and SQL Server serving as the foundation for our systems.
• Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2008R2, 2012 (including Hyper-V and Clustering)
• SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008R2, 2012 (Standard & Enterprise)
• Variety of SQL Server technologies, including: SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, Mirroring, replication, clustering
• Currently in the 100GB individual database realm; preparing for 1TB realm
• RedGate and other tools
• Mercurial
• We have a variety of custom internal applications (VB6 through .NET 4 and EF) that interface with SQL Server
Responsibilities
• Care & Feeding of many databases across multiple SQL Server instances
• Participate in testing & revision of HA and DR plans
• Develop & Maintain SSRS reports, SSIS packages, SSAS cubes
• Research & Resolve issues related to SQL Server (configuration, performance, query, bottleneck, etc.)
• Maintain accurate tracking of issues and work items
Skills
• Required
o 3+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience
o Experience in day-to-day administration of multiple SQL Server instances
o Experience in sproc/TSQL development and troubleshooting
o Experience in data interchange with trading partners
o Experience in schema development and life-cycle management
• Desired
o Experience with SQL Server in 24x7x365 environments
o Experience in care & feeding of HA and DR solutions
o Experience in capacity planning and needs anticipation
